Have you ever felt like you weren't being your best, but knew if you made the smallest positive changes your life would be better?
For instance, you are aware that if you changed your diet and incorporated exercise into your lifestyle you could lose some pounds.
Or maybe, if you chanced upon the perfect skin care line, your dream of having near flawless skin could be achieved.
Perhaps you've thought that if you found some few peaceful moments for meditation every morning you could gain some clarity and direction through out the day. Perhaps even, you know that to achieve any goal you must first of all, set the goal; and yet majority of us find ourselves stuck in a mundane cycle of mediocrity, knowing what it takes to bring a positive change but lacking the courage, motivation and quite frankly, the will to take the first step!!!
I coined the name DynamightMe to represent the alter ego in all of us. The individual we all have deep down or maybe not so deep down, who wants the very best out of life...who not only knows what to do to acheive but takes the critical actions to acheive!
This blog pertains to my journey to becoming my version of DynamightMe! My goal is to document the steps I will be taking to becoming DynamightMe. It will involve me stepping up my game in all the areas of life that I'm passionate about...Health, Beauty, Fitness and Fashion! You, my readers are free to add richness to this blog by contributing stories about how you hope to, or are taking steps to become DynamightYou, with regard to whatever your passions are!!
Just in case you're curious about the random set of circumstances that make up my life to date...
My name is Naa. I am originally from Ghana, West Africa, came to the US to pursue my bacherlors degree in Finance at the University of Iowa (Go Hawkeyes!!) eventhough I wanted to do something in the creative field. After working in Finance for 2 years, I eventually worked up the courage to look crazy to my family, friends and work peers by declaring defiantly that I was going to Fashion school.
I moved to Los Angeles, attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), (which I aboslutely adored) majored in Merchandise Product Development and upon graduation, attempted to start my own clothing line. I was able to get as far as producing samples for production but got stuck finding the capital to manufacture the minimum requirements per design. (The samples by the way, are amazing. I might share photos if you are nice!) All was not lost however... I had been perfecting my skills as a makeup artist, wardrobe stylist and hairstylist through my freelance gigs all the while, and simply created a business out of that when the clothing line door closed (temporarily).
I have moved quite a number of times, first, from Ghana to Iowa City and then to Atlanta, then to Los Angeles, back to Atlanta and now finally back in Los Angeles!! (Dizzy yet?) As you can tell I thrive on change.
I hope that this blog will keep me accountable to making positive changes in my life that will inspire others to do the same...
Much Love...
Naa
